A collaboration between international prize winning musicians

Ashan Pillai was born in Sri Lanka. He has appeared in recital at Festivals throughout North America, Asia and Europe, and many of these performances have been broadcast. He studied viola at the Royal Academy of Music, London; the University of Southern California, Los Angeles; and the Juilliard School, New York. His principal teachers have been John White, Donald McInnes and Karen Tuttle. Ashan has won many awards including a prize at he 1994 Tertis International Competition, the 1995 Royal Overseas League Competition in London and the Bucchi International Competition in Rome. Ashan was sub-principal viola of the English Chamber Orchestra from 1996-2000 and is now principal viola of the Barcelona Symphony.
